Stigma and self-stigma in patients with delusional disorder: a systematic review.

Introduction The association between insight, stigma and self-concept has been considered as a potential predictor of poor clinical outcomes global functioning in psychosis. In patients with delusional disorder (DD), the effects self-stigma have poorly explored. Objectives Our main goal was to systematically review studies addressing DD assess whether these phenomena an impact on symptoms. Methods A systematic conducted through PubMed Google Scholar databases from inception 2022 (PRISMA guidelines). Search terms: (Stigma OR self-stigma) AND (“delusional disorder” psychosis paranoia). Studies were eligible if they included DD. Results total 875 records retrieved, which 18 included. Stigma : (1) is associated quality life, adherence medications acceptation diagnosis. (2) Support at workplaces would improve discrimination (3) Poor interpersonal competence may increase experience Self-stigma Women show higher level than men. Higher rates psychiatric hospitalizations severity symptoms greater degree self-stigma. Suicidal ideation negative self-schema but not self-stigma, particularly persecutory delusions. (4) Self-stigmatization negatively life. (5) Depressive levels (6) Promotion interventions should address content. Conclusions Further longitudinal are needed test influence follow-up specific them.
